DOOM Multiplayer Review

The Multiplayer content and gameplay in doom gts a lot of bad rep. PCGamer described it as "Dull" and "Fails to carve out an identity of its own." I completely disagree with bot hof these. I'm not a huge fan of First Person Shooters, I don't dislike them but they've never been my cup of tea. This year there has been a few really good shooters, with games like Player Unknown's Battlegrounds and Destiny 2 I think DOOM which was released in May of last year can still compete with these newer titles since it brings something completely new to the table.

Gameplay

Something that DOOM does, that a lot of other shooters dont do is it supports being aggressive! With one of the main things in DOOM that completely separates it's self from other shooters in the Health and Armor pickups. Normally how combat in other shooters go is, shoot from cover, then sink back and wait for your health to regen. Rinse and repeat. All though PUBG has bandages and Medkits to bring back your health, DOOM brought having to go out and actually find health and such nearly a year before PUBG came out. How Health and Armor pickups work in DOOM is exactly how you'd think. Instead of your health regenerating there is health pickups around the map that will restore your health. Instead of shoot, wait for health to regen, repeat. DOOM goes more like, shoot, run into the action to even stay alive, shoot again, and repeat. Making for a much more fun gameplay in my opinion. Armor Pickups act in the same way, there will be Armor Pickups around the map that you will have to find that most of the time can make the difference between life in death. Armor acts a lot like extra health, when you have Armor active the armor will take damage instead of your actual health, which makes it very very Important.

Weapons

The Weapons in most shooters are fairly bland. And most of the time exactly what you think, you have your pistols, you have different types of rifles that most of the time are the same guns except for slightly changed speed and damage. Well DOOM completely changes that, having tons of different weapons with different abilities, charge times and can completely change the entire gameplay. Also with the guns being able to be changed how you like, with different patterns and colors that you can unlock by hitting certain levels or doing challenges like killing a certain amount of enemy or demon with a certain gun. Every Weapon in doom has a special ability, sometimes like the Heavy Assault Rifle the ability will be a scope or sometimes the abilities will be more unique like the Plasma Rifles ability to shoot a puddle of Plasma on the ground that deals damage to enemies that walk on it. Critical Hits are well... a Critical part of the combat. Different weapons have ways to doing Critical Hits, some guns like the Heavy Assault Rifle will give you Critical Damage for headshots, some weapons like the Plasma Rifle will give you Critical Damage for rapid damage being dealt, or sometimes even for close damage, like the Shotguns in the game. The Weapons in DOOM are very well balanced, if a weapon has a really good strength it's going to have a weakness as well. The highest damage dealing guns like the Super Shotgun will most of the time has a very long reload speed, which is why really slow guns that deal a lot of damage like the Super Shotgun are balanced really well if you also have a gun like the Heavy Assault Rifle or the Plasma Rifle which both deal a medium amount of damage at a very fast rate, you can start with your Super Shotgun, then switch to your Rifle, then back to your Super Shotgun once it's loaded, which you might not even need since combat goes fast, each player dealing a bunch of damage. Which is why Armor is an important part of the gameplay
