How to Be Early In Darksouls 3
In Darksouls, there isn't just one build you can do and be amazing at the game. There isn't one build that's the best and is better than them all. Sure there's easier builds, Using a sword and straightsword is pretty solid, so is using one of the Ultra Greatswords, heck Sellsword winblades are killer. But that's maybe not what you want to do. You might want to use an axe, or pyromancies, or even twin daggers I dunno, But at the end of the day almost and build, weapon combos, and good stats applying to those weapons or spells, can be good. Heck, someone using the Broken Straight Sword could do twice as good as someone using an Ultra Greatsword if they know how to use it right and have right stats applying to that, but we're talking about early game now.
Almost every weapon you'll get in early game Darksouls is going to be underwhelming in the damage department, which is why we have a little thing called Weapon Reinforcement and Infusions. Different weapons in Darksouls 3 will require different types of things to upgrade them. Titanite Shards are the most easily found in Darksouls 3 and they upgrade normal weapons to +3. 2 shards to upgrade once, 4 to upgrade second and 6 to upgrade third, so you'll need 12 in total. Large Titanite shards, a lot like their younger brother, normal Titanite shards, need 12 to upgrade as much as they can, from +3 to +6. And Titanite Chunks are the same way, you need twelve and they'll get you from +6 to +9. Then there's Titanite Slabs. A single titanite slab will upgrade your weapon from +9 to +10, or special weapons from +4 to +5. In the main game, and DLCS there is only 15 slabs in total, but only 8 in the main game. Now that's just the upgrading for normal weapons, to upgrade unique weapons you need Twinkling Titanite. You need Ten Twinkling Titanite to upgrade a special weapon to +4. Then a Titanite slab to get it to +5, which is as far as Unique weapons get. Then for boss weapons you need Titanite scales, You need ten titanite scales to upgrade it to +4, and like unique weapons it only scales to +5 so after you upgrade it to +4 you just need a titanite slab to upgrade it completely.
Now the first zone in darksouls 3 is the High Wall of Lothric, and if you want to be really powerful early game you can get a +2 raw weapon, which in the long run isn't good, but this early it'll be super powerful. So we already know that to upgrade a weapon to +2 you need 6 titanite shards. The first titanite shard you get in when you first start the game right before Gundyr, so that makes 5 that we need. Once you get to the High wall of Lothci you can either go Right or Left, Left is where the right of the area is, but take a right. There will be a few hollows and dogs, take them out then go up the tower stairs and kill the archer. Careful though, the hollow closest to him will turn into a Pus of Man, this is what we want. Kill the Pus of Man, he's strong, but weak to fire. Once you kill him he'll give you an ember and Titanite shard, so that now we have enough titanite shards for +1, so now we only need 4 more for +2. The next titanite you'll find is next to the Tower on the Wall bonfire, to get there just take a left from the first bonfire and keep going. Now we have 1/4. From the Tower on the wall bonfire, go down the stairs and fall off to the right once you get inside, then head back outside. You'll be on a ledge and you'll see a group of hollows on the roof ahead of you. One of them is a pus of man, kill him for the ember and titanite, then also look around on the roof there's a Crystal Lizard, he'll give you a raw gem used to make a raw weapon. Now we have 2/4. Drop down off the room onto a ledge to the right, from here you can either go towards a hollow with a cross bow or go into a building, go inside the building, take a left and go all the way up the stairs then through a doorway, to the right is titanite shard #3. And the very last titanite shard you need is in the building, instead of going left go straight, drop down in the room with enemies. Once you kill all them you can get an Estus Shard and a titanite shard.
Now with your 6 titanite shards and raw gem you can go upgrade your weapon to +2 and infuse it with your Raw Gem. Now you can basically destroy all the enemies early game, if you know how to use your weapon right of course!
